Pair of mid-19th Century watercolours by Thomas James Soper (1817-1893). The first depicts a canal scene (possibly Teddington Lock) and the other a harvesting scene. The paintings approximate measurements: 17.5" x 13.75" frame 9.75" x 6.5" picture Soper was a prolific artist during the 19th century, particularly during the period of 1836-1890, having exhibited over seventy-five paintings at numerous institutions including: Royal society of arts, British Institute Dudley Gallery, Glasgow INstitute of Fine Arts, Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, Winchester City Art Gallery, Royal Academy, Royal Society of British Artists, Royal Hibernian Academy, Museum of Reading, Brighton Art Gallery, Godalming Museum Still hold his paintings in their permanent collection
